GTM container in the head

Ever wondered whether the location of the GTM container snippet on your site has any effect on data quality? We have tested this comparing the GTM container in the footer vs the header. We set up a Google Analytics tag that fires an event on window.load on a content-heavy site. The results from a few days of data gathering are staggering:

In summary….whilst this was a quick test, it’s clear your data will be better when you place your container in the head section. Please note, when doing so, it is safe move the noscript part of the container snippet to the footer.
